The first time I used it, after charging for a few hours it started cycling on and off every few minutes with the voltage on the battery increasing. When it hit 14.8V I unplugged it since that seemed beyond the battery specs.
I asked WattCycle support if that was normal and the reply I got was “ We recommend that you can stop charging before it full charged, which can avoid such situation.”. I already have a lead acid charger which can partially charge my lithium batteries - I bought this charger so I can fully charge them when needed
So, I still do not know if the charger is functioning correctly or not. I would love to change my review if can get a satisfactory answer from WattCycle, but right now I am not happy with this purchase. (WattCycle are you reading these reviews? If so, I would love to be contacted to discuss this further so I can understand if this is normal behavior or if the charger has a problem.)
Absolutely love these batteries. I already had 3 of the 12v 100Ah for my Ranger Z520 and when I bought my Clubcar I knew I was going with the 12v 50Ah. I dropped 320lbs off my golf cart and I used to have to charge the lead acid batteries every day just to get around my neighborhood. So far the first charge on the WattCycle 12v 50Ah has lasted 4 days!!! I am extremely satisfied with my purchase!!!!
Can't beat the price and it's compact but it runs hot. The surface is smooth plastic without vents or fins. Maybe it is fine running hot. I would make sure that as much surface as possible is exposed.
Very well constructed, packaged, and documented battery.
