Insider Scoop: Something Behind Will Prowse’s Latest Video

Insider Scoop: Something Behind Will Prowse’s Latest Video

Cycle Watt |

We have taken note of Will Prowses latest video featuring our product, the 12V 314Ah smart edition. It is regrettable that our product has been portrayed unfairly, and we must express our disappointment in Will Prowse’s unprofessional conduct on this occasion. The testing videos failed to showcase the capacity, BMS functionality of our product, or provide details on the testing conditions, processes, and results. It appears to be a hastily produced video lacking in thoroughness.

As a responsible brand, we have previously issued an official blog addressing the root cause and solutions for parallel connection issues, which is a common occurrence across many brands. Regrettably, Will Prowse choses to exaggerate this point in relation to our brand, despite being aware of the broader context.

Furthermore, we feel compelled to address the matter of video sponsorship, as Will Prowse has raised this issue in his forum. While we have appreciated Will Prowse’s previous objective, transparent, and impartial testing of our products, the recent situation has become more complex. We would like to provide a timeline based on our WhatsApp communications for clarity:

Timeline Description
09 August 2025 Will Prowse requested a 12V 314Ah battery for review
12 August 2025 Our marketing officer agreed to send products
27 August 2025 Will Prowse asked the reason of paralleling problems. Our marketing officers showed him its industry problems for many brands and we will solve it soon. Will Prowse gave a like in WhatsApp and expressed this “interesting”
28 August 2025 After most tests had passed, Will Prowse began to requested $12000 payment, or else hinted at making "other" videos. Our marketing officer reluctantly agreed to his terms
02 September 2025 To ensure objectivity and impartiality of the review, the company ultimately decided not to make any payment
03 September 2025 Will Prowse's "Do Not Buy" test video was published. Soon changed to "Major Problem" for some reasons.
04 September 2025 Will Prowse's published "Smart Battery Problem" said he knew nothing other brands had the same problem until last day video

We hope this statement provides clarity on the situation and our commitment to transparency and fairness in all our interactions. To protect privacy, we can only share all WhatsApp communication details individually if needed, although Will Prowse chose to publish part of private talk in his forum. Thank you for your attention.

Who ever posted the comment that Will is unprofessional needs to be let go. Will is honest and willing to engage his followers on any issue.
You state that your product is defective and you stated you would provide a solution.
Your company just went on my “DO NOT BUY” list.
Attacking Will makes wattcycle look small and petty.

Robert Hovis,

Tone deaf posting and getting destroyed in the comments for it.
Perfect example of how to double down on reputation damage.
Rather than acknowledge the issue and work to fix it you place external blame, insult, and redirect attention.
Your PR people need replaced.
You could not have done worse here.

Bryan Buss,

Time to go dispose of your batterys in my local lake

dan,

I purchased two of your 12 v 314ah batteries because of Will first comments. I am sorry I did. I can’t trust the batteries in Parallel in my RV. You won’t take them back, so I’m out over $1100.00.
Your “fix” for IOS is fiction. The sad thing is I have counseled companies for 50 years as how to be successful: Build a good product and stand behind your work. Your customers will stand by you if you’re up front. Pointing fingers at people and crying “unfair” is not standing behind your product do the right thing!
FIX THE PARALLEL ISSUE AND ISSUE THE IOS FIX.

T Metcalf,

Your public relationships/marketing needs to be sweeping floors. Losers response to a valid and confirmed issue with the product is distraction by a personal attack. YOU have the wildly confirmed problem with cpecific product quality. It does NOT matter who and how brought it to light. Respond promptly, test, admit if indeed, ensure your customers that you have the solution coming, have youtubers to independently test the fix. Public will praise you for that and elevate your brand above others that have 0 after sales care.

You already had the beta fix, I would applaud for quick reaction (although first reports of an issue are from over three months and were just refunded and ignored). And you had no self control to refrain from this post… Shame.
The sole reason I bought your batteries was Will Prowes channel and detailed teardowns and tests he does. I’m an electronics engineer and I was pleasantly surprised with your build quality and attention to details so pulled a trigger on buy, not DIY. Awaiting for the iOS version of the fix, since I don’t have an android and will not sideload anyway from the security standpoint.

Sluh,

I’m going to take a stab at this. Perhaps by “other” videos he didn’t mean make bad videos about y’all, he meant focus on other content that is paying him. It just so happened that there was an issue with your guys’ battery so he made a video about that. Maybe saying don’t buy at all is a little overkill, but y’all do say you can put 4 in parallel, and his video clearly shows two in parallel not working with a very repeatable test setup.

John Lee,

You mentioned there would be a fix for this issue soon, when will this fix be available and how will we be informed?

S Knudsen,

I tried parrallel my 280 smart. The voltages were not right, so I put an A B Both switch.
i
How can they sell 4 packs when they know it does not work???

Mike Olmstedrt,

Anything involving money or poliltics is difficult to explain. Looking at the timeline, it seems both parties acted impulsively due to conflicting interests. Any mutual criticism or attacks afterward are not something a rational guy should engage in.

Power Rice,

I don’t understand why things have turned out this way. If Wattcycle told Will that this is an industry issue and that improvements would come soon, their efforts and attitude toward making good products shouldn’t be singled out for criticism. However, this blog post and many comments here seem pointless as well. Can’t everyone focus their time on creating better solar products?

Mike from DIYSolar,

Will’s first video does seem a bit emotional, but he quickly made a new video to clarify things. The brand should be more magnanimous, face the issues positively, and actively improve their products instead of complaining. Both parties can work better to provide the best products and services for consumers.

Tom J K,

do these issues transfer to the 12V314Ah — ultra smart?? I just received mine, and am beginning to freakout a little.

Rob Logan,

Hi. I just wanted to let you know, the only reason I new about, and bought your 12 volt 100 ah mini Smart battery, was because of Will Prowes. Before his youtube video, I was going to buy a LiTime battery.

Kevin Hollenbeck,

I thought the golden rule when connecting batteries regardless of whether lead acid, AGM or LiFePO4, etc… was to use the EXACT SAME BATTERY with exact same AMP HOURS and SAME MANUFACTURER.

What manufacturer is going to guarantee their batteries when you connect to a different manufacturer battery in series or parallel. I would think not one would honor the warranty.

Every manufacturer states in their owners manual not to use other manufacturer batteries with theirs. There is a safety concern for risk of fire, explosion and being injured or killed.

I would suggest you never mix different batteries if you want to be safe. I think the whole idea of mixing different manufacturer batteries in series or parallel for me is a hard NO. Common sense tells you it’s not a good idea.

If there’s a problem with using the same exact batteries in series or parallel then that should be noted, but comparing apples to oranges is not the same as comparing apples to apples or oranges to oranges.

DIY Solar Power with Pappa, the DIY Solar Guy,

Attacking the user community is a dumb move, regardless of whose fault it is. The customer is always right. You just chased away a lot of business. I hope your boss figures this out.

Mark Brownlee,

Hello, I wonder if you have any idea how bad this blog post makes your company look? I think you should take it down and educate whichever member of your team thought it was a good idea to post this.

Apart from admitting your product has a problem, then describing an YouTuber who published an honest video about it as ”unprofessional” you clearly state your company agreed to pay for his video review then changed your mind and didn’t make this payment.

Why will any consumer place trust in your brand in the future? Whoever wrote this blog post doesn’t understand consumer business or how to build a trust in a brand.
