BEWARE
I have 3 of the 12volt 314ah mini they are connected in parallel. First didn’t have same length wire and you will see that closest one will discharge and charge first and then second in line. So changed to same length and that made a difference and now discharge and charge fairly close. You will not get perfect but within reason.
Now comes the problem is charging the batteries. I did buy and use the Watts 60amp charger as recommended that worked perfectly to charge each separate. Now hooked up with all 3 batteries in parallel it will charge to the point of getting “Pack OVP(V)Pack over-voltage protection” ERROR every time. There are no settings or anything you can do with the Watts 60amp charger. I have contacted Watts support with pics of the error and showing volts of each cell.
This is their response:
-Ensure your charger output voltage does not exceed 14.6V.
-Stop charging once the batteries reach 100%, as continuing to charge beyond this point may trigger the BMS protection.
SO NOW I HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY WATCH THE LEVEL OF CHARGE AND SHUT IT OFF MANUALLY …WHERE IT WORKED AS IT SHOULD BEFORE SHUTTING OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHEN CHARGED INDIVIDUALLY.
Looks like Watts is obviously missing something with their BMS in parallel mode. Yes I did turn them to parallel on but may try with it off …? Since no real help from their customer support.
Also when getting the error the batteries will not discharge evenly you have to start discharging one then turn off the discharge to force it on the next battery then the next after that go back turn them all back on then with work like they should…until the next charge cycle gets the error again.
Otherwise I like the features they have but within the app you have to keep toggling back and forth to each battery and keep connecting with Bluetooth this needs to be improved to have all batteries on the dashboard that would be a huge improvement.
IP67 rated but what does that even mean other than to give manufactures a selling point on an easily met test at minimal cost. I have several other IP67 rated cases used for outdoor solar cabling in an wet environment and never had any water intrusions so I took for granted that this battery couldn't hold up to being left in the rain the half dozen or so times it was. My bad because Wattcycle clearly states not to expose it to wet conditions and if water enters the case it voids the warranty because you misused their product. So after learning that I took the top cover off in hopes of salvaging the cells for some use and saw the liquid gasketing used, IP67 is an advertising gimmick. Protect your trolling motor battery and cover it while it's in your boat or out if it could get moisture on the top. .
works great and stays cool with the cooling fan
So far so good. Meets all my needs.
Reviewing this battery for recommendation. Well constructed, small, screws to open are appreciated. great price. Unfortunately the 'smart' BMS suffers from current sharing issues when batteries in parallel and also from a balancer that barely functions.
It should be possible to fix this with some setting changes internal to the BMS, but I am not holding my breath.
Great price, great shipping. Charged at 70% when received. I charged to 100%, discharged to 50% and stored in basement for winter. Will use for trolling next spring. So far, so good.
Box arrived with the previous customers tech support notes inside. Battery doesn't take a charge and BMS cuts it off with even the tiniest load attached. Case was severely cracked throughout. I'm not sure I would trust the 'Like New' offering here. I do have a battery that was purchased new that has had no issues. Bummer this didn't work out that well.
My 2 batteries worked fine for a month. Then the BMS on one died. After a week of email exchanges, wattcycle agreed to send a return label. It took a week to send it, then a week for the battery to get back to California, then several days to ship the replacement and a week for it to arrive. The new one is working now. I went a month without a battery and I worry that the replacement may also fail. But I was pleased that Wattcycle did provide the replacement.
Installed one 12v 314 Ah mini Bluetooth in our boat with Victrons Cerbo S GX, Multiplus, Orion tr smart, smart shunt = Great 👍
So far it charged appropriately and holds the charge well. Capacity is spot on.
I have both the aluminum shell charger and the plastic charger. They both work the same from what I can tell. The aluminum shell is heavier and feels like it should last longer but that is just my opinion based on limited experience.
Can't really give an honest review, as I have not received them yet. More of an issue with the Shipper than Wattcycle, as it did seem like it was shipped out promptly.
After reading and watching many reviews about all the popular brands, I selected the Wattcycle 100ah battery. I run a drywasher and highbanker sluice (gold prospecting equipment) off of the battery and have found that the power output is consistent and plentiful! Even after running the better part of a day, there is still enough energy available to run the next day. Charging is fast too. Thank you Watt Cycle!
I started with 3x LiTime 100Ahr Smart Mini for a power system in my Jeep. Had issues charging and discharging as a unit. I also had issues with cell balancing. Replaced them and the problem remained so I returned them.
When Wattcycle came out with their parallel mode, I bought a 3 pack. It works great. I have not enabled parallel mode as the all three share the load well. Charging and discharging together. Also, all three batteries are behaving well with regards to cell balancing. I have been very pleased.
The only down side was the nice battery mounts from American Adventure Labs were built for the Litime battery, so I used straps for the Wattcycle.
Great so far. Good price! 103 ahr capacity on first test.
I bought this battery for my 2024 Coleman Lantern 17R camper, and it worked extremely well. The price is the best you can find while still getting a high quality and reliable battery. Highly recommend.
Batteries installed since almost 2 weeks in my travel trailer. They are doing their job. BMS are reacting ok at 14.6 volts. Even with all the BMS protection settings, People on the forum encourage strongly to fuse those batteries in case of a BMS failure. So, MRBF fuses seems to be the best choice for that.
In the past i have always used Renogy but decided to try wattcycle. I have not been disappointed. Delivery of 3 business days was much faster than Renogy 4 months. The Bluetooth app works great, the batteries perform as good as Renogy and cost much less. Definitely going to use wattcycle going forward.
Easy to install. Good instructions. Accurate.
I’m enjoying the extended life of these cells mind you I had to modify the wiring to accommodate reversed poles of the units. No worries not a problem that I couldn’t solve. Thank you very good so far no problems getting them to fit in the enclosure.
Very good battery
So far great trolling motor battery.
Only used two times, so time will tell!
