problem: RS485 coms fail randomly within minutes up to hours of startup.
using EAsun 6.2kW inverter - reports error 61 and does not recover.
I have tried different master pack and also just one pack.
when workin ok, I can unplug RJ45, see error start, replug and error clears.
but once error occurs in operation, it locks and whole system must be power cycled.
I have tried PY 1 and PY2 as well as PACE protocols in packs and inverter settings and all seem to work. (Inverter reads pack data and displays) just wait a while and a coms error occurs.
Setup: 4x 16kWh 51.2V 314Ah floor standing (coms errors also occur with just one pack)
Packs work together as a 'SYSTEM' with master (only) showing system status and able to monitor all 4 packs.
address set up manually 1,2,3,4 on DIP switch. Power button on/off at master (address 1) starts and stops all 4 units, so pack communications ok, just coms to inverter failing after random time.
note user manual shows incorrect RJ45 positions for daisy chain of RS485. It only works if opposite connection to user manual is used.
There are no RS485 terminator resistors suggested or supplied?
Any suggestions what is causing coms error ?
Does anyone have this working reliably ?
update..... I have tested with an MPPsolar 5kW inverter in PYL mode and communication error is the same in RS485 mode. ( starts working but randomly fails )
another update..... I have tested with a Growatt SPF5000ES inverter with appropriate settings at inverter and battery pack and communications error is the same ( starts working but randomly fails ). However, as the Growatt has CAN bus connection option as well, connection using CAN Growatt mode at battery and lithium L51 protocol at inverter has now been working solidly for several days. Yay !
Testing by unplugging the CAN bus RJ45, the inverter indicates fault and will shut down after a few minutes. If CAN is plugged back in before that, the inverter re-establishes communication and fault indication clears. Inverter reads SOC correctly from battery.
So.... at least for 3 different inverters, the Wattcycle RS485 communication is not good. Use CAN bus connection.
